Three character domains enjoyed a small bubble in 2007 that seems to be tapering off as I write this.
From my experience, they are hard to find a use for. Short is great, and I can see why people pay so much for three letter acronyms. However, those which are a mixture of letters and numbers are a harder sell.
The best use if have found for them is to use them to display things I want to sell via the classified ads. That keeps the charges down. Of course, as fast as Craigs list is making the classifieds irrelevant that use won’t add value much longer.
