Custard Glass
CustardGlass.com is a creamy yellow colored glass that for reasons unknown to me, was extremely popular for making souvenir items. It is also called uranium glass because uranium is what gives it it’s color. It also glows under a black light.
Development of a custard glass site will require blending some interesting search behaviors.
“Custard Glass” is the most popular search term with an average search volume of about 210 per month. In addition, there are some people who know Fenton Glass Company made a lot of custard glass, so there are an additional 90 searches per mo nth for “Fenton Custard Glass”.
There are about 50 searches for “Glass Custard Cups” but I don’t think these are really relevant to the site. It will take looking at analytics data to get a better idea of what visitors who arrive using this search term are actually looking for.
Since so many custard glass items are souvenirs I thought “souvenir” might make a good search term, but it turns out almost no one uses it.
I suspect many of the custard glass souvenirs are valued by collectors looking for souvenir glass from a particular town or business. That suggests that my custard glass website should make it a point to highlight that information for each piece of glass mentioned.
It’s kind of a variant of geo-targeting.
